Here's me celebrating my 22nd Birthday in Salvador, Brazil, back in February. The plan was to travel around South America from February to July. Unfortunately, coronavirus had other ideas and I was sent packing by the end of March.

Being locked down back in my family home in rural Essex gave me ample time to decide what to do with my life. When I graduated from the University of Leeds back in 2019, my 'plan' consisted of travelling and travelling alone.

I'd been toying with journalism for a while at university, so I decided to go for it. A global pandemic may not be the best time to break into a notoriously tough and competitive industry, but here I am, giving it a go.
